Victoria & Albert Background Stamp

Friday, 30 July 2010

Used some masking tape to mask off the edges of the card and used the V & A stamp for the centre stamping it twice using 2 shades of brown ink. I like the effect but it makes your eyes go funny.

Using up Ribbon

Tuesday, 27 July 2010

I saw this technique online and thought what a lovely way to use up ribbon and a perfect card for my first card class as it’s easy to make. We’ve probably all got loads of scraps that we don’t know what to do with, or they are too small to make into bows. This uses all those little pieces up and looks really effective too. You can make the window any shape you like. I used a Cuttlebug die for the leaf plus an extra one to mount on top. Great mans card as well.

Ribbon Leaf

Materials used – Bazzill card stock, Cuttlebug plus leaf die, Bo Bunny – Roughin It In The Leaves paper, Versamagic brown chalk ink, Woodware sentiment stamps, String and Ribbon Scraps.

My First Class

Saturday, 24 July 2010

Oh my goodness, was I nervous today. I took my very first card making class. I “entertained” 9 lovely ladies, one who was celebrating her birthday and had invited her friends, (some who had never made a card before) along for a crafty morning. I felt as nervous as when I took my GCSE French oral exam, but once I got going I was OK, I relaxed into it. I had prepared 2 card samples for the ladies to have a go at, but the time just flew by and we only managed one card plus a couple of quick tutorials, one on masking using stamps and the other on heat embossing.  The ladies came up with fantastic creations and we all had a great time. I took this photo at the end after confessing it was my first class and the greatest compliment was them saying it didn’t show. That made my day.

Bye Bye Polkadoodles

Wednesday, 21 July 2010

I’ve just got back from a fab holiday in the Loire. What a beautiful place, so relaxing and peaceful. We cycled along the river, had picnics, visited the museum at Le Mans and visited the beautiful gardens at Chateaux Villandry. There was not a weed to be seen. Our gite was great too and completely surrounded by fields of sunflowers, sweetcorn and hay.

I’m a bit sad, but I decided to leave the Polkadoodles team this week. I felt it was time to move on and concentrate more on my own projects. I’ve had a great time with the team and enjoyed playing with Nicky's great products which I will continue to use.
On Saturday I'm going to be doing my first ever card making class at the Eternal Maker for a ladies birthday party and  I'm going to show them some stamping and masking techniques. I feel a bit nervous about it but excited at the same time.

Polkadoodles Challenge 26 - Decoration

Friday, 2 July 2010

Why have I bought bags of these at Christmas when they are so easy to make. I found the instructions on this fab blog. You can adjust the sizes of the strips of paper to make different sized bows. There are so many great ideas on the blog using recycled paper and fabric. I’m definitely going to be trying out more of the tutorials.
